Privacy Policy

Thank you for choosing to use Mynd ("Mynd", "we", "us", or "our"). We deeply understand the private nature of journaling, which is why we have built Mynd on a "Privacy First" and "Local First" approach.

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use the Mynd application (the "App").

1. Data Storage and Synchronization

Local Storage First: All your journal entries, chat records, mood data, and other content created within the App are stored entirely locally on your device by default. We do not operate servers to store your personal journal data.
iCloud Synchronization: If you enable iCloud sync, your data will be securely synced across your personal devices via Apple's iCloud service. This synchronization uses your personal Apple ID, and the data remains within your private Apple ecosystem. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

2. Large Language Model (LLM) Processing

To provide specific AI-assisted features (such as chatting, summarizing, or tagging), the App may need to process your text using a Large Language Model (LLM).

Local Models: Whenever possible, we prioritize using on-device models processing to ensure your data never leaves your device.
Cloud Models (If Applicable): If certain features require a cloud-based LLM, we will only transmit the necessary text snippets required for that specific task.
- Any data sent to a cloud LLM provider is strictly for the purpose of generating a response and is not used to train the provider's models.
- We will explicitly inform you and require your consent before any of your journal data is sent to a cloud service.

3. Analytics and Diagnostics

To help us improve the App and understand how it is being used, we may collect anonymous, aggregated usage data.

This data may include information such as device type, operating system version, crash reports, and general feature usage statistics.
This data is completely anonymized and cannot be linked back to you or your personal journal content. We do not use any tracking technologies that uniquely identify you for advertising purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Apple Services: We use Apple's CloudKit for iCloud synchronization and TestFlight/App Store for distribution. Your use of these services is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Analytics: We use privacy-focused analytics tools (e.g., Umami) that do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) or use cookies for tracking.
Waitlist/Newsletter: If you sign up for our waitlist on our website, your email address is collected via Beehiiv. We only use this email to send you product updates and announcements.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top.
